What verification really means
Badges are only useful if you know exactly what's behind them. Here's what we check, and what we don't.
License Verified
Where the trade requires a license, the number on the profile is checked against the issuing state's public database and must be active and in the business's name.
Insurance Verified
The contractor uploads a certificate of insurance. We read the carrier, coverage and expiration date, and the badge drops off automatically when the policy lapses.
Business Verified
We confirm the business is a real, reachable local entity — name, registration and contact details all match.
Background Verified
Optional. The contractor authorizes and pays for a third-party background check on the owner or principal.
Always confirm before work starts
Licenses and policies can lapse at any time between checks. A badge means a credential was verified on a date — it is not a guarantee of current coverage and it isn't a warranty on the work. Ask any contractor for a current certificate of insurance and license number before work begins.
