Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about verification, paid profiles, reviews, and how Trusted Home Networks works for homeowners and contractors.
What does license and insurance verification really mean?
Licenses are checked against applicable state and professional databases where available. Insurance is verified by the contractor uploading a current certificate of insurance (COI), which is reviewed before the badge is awarded. Homeowners should always confirm that coverage is still active before work begins.
Is there an algorithm that boosts paid profiles?
No. Paid profiles can display more robust information and unlock more features, but there is no pay-to-play ranking. The 'Recommended by Network' seal is earned through consistent quality, not purchased.
How is Trusted Home Networks different from lead-marketplace sites?
We are a membership directory, not a lead auction. Homeowners browse and contact pros directly; contractors keep every inquiry and never pay per lead.
Is it free for homeowners?
Yes. Searching, browsing profiles, reading reviews, and contacting pros is free for homeowners.
What is CraftScore?
CraftScore is a multi-dimensional rating based on verified customer reviews across craftsmanship, communication, professionalism, cleanliness, staying on budget, staying on schedule, problem resolution, and likelihood to hire again.
Are reviews verified?
Reviews come from verified past clients invited through the platform, plus public review sources where linked. Contractors can dispute reviews they believe are unfair.
What does 'Recommended by Network' mean?
It is a selective seal awarded by the local network to pros who consistently demonstrate exceptional workmanship, reliability, and professionalism. It cannot be purchased.
How do contractors join?
Contractors create a free profile, choose a membership tier, and complete verification steps — business, insurance, license, and an optional background check — to earn trust badges.
What areas do you serve?
The platform is organized into local trusted networks. Enter your zip code to see pros in your area.
What if something goes wrong during a project?
Trusted Home Networks helps you find and compare vetted pros, but the service agreement is between you and the contractor. We recommend confirming licenses, insurance, and written contracts before work starts.
